APU PERU HOUSES LOCATION

Where do I have to live in Lima? That is one of the keys questions that you are probably asking yourself. The majority of people already have an idea about, because they have had access to information of people who was living in Peru before, and that is very usefull!!! But the dynamism of the real state market and the growth of Peruvian economy could make all past information a little bit out of date. Here we will give you updated information and we will provide links so that you can make a decision using as much information that you can have.

1. Where are located all APU houses?

Our houses are located in MIRAFLORES and SURCO. These 2 areas are consider for Peruvians on the top of the most liked place to live in Lima.

2. Why Miraflores and Surco?

These two neighbour districts offer the best security conditions for living in Lima. They are very well connected with public transport to all over Lima. The new metro of Lima will pass by Surco, and the new trole service (El Metropolitano) pass by Miraflores.

Miraflores and Surco also offers you access to supermarkets, flee markets, theathers, cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs, gyms, at walking distances.

For more information about:

Miraflores: http://www.miraflores.gob.pe

Surco: http://www.munisurco.gob.pe

Metro Lima (Tren urbano): http://www.aate.gob.pe

El Metropolitano: http://www.metropolitano.com.pe

3. How Long is Surco from Miraflores?

Our houses in Surco are located at the border with Miraflores, if you walk no more than 4 blocks you are already in Miraflores. If you take a bus, it will take 15 minutes to get to Miraflores central park from the houses in Surco. And it will take 15 minutes to get Ovalo Higuereta at the border of Miraflores and Surco from the houses in Miraflores.

4. Are the houses close between each other?

Yes, the houses in Miraflores are at walking distance to the houses in Miraflores, and the houses in Surco are at walk distance to the houses in Surco. Getting one of the houses from Miraflores to Surco or vice versa, takes 15 minutes by bus or less by taxi.

Check the map at right to see the houses location in Surco and Miraflores.

5. Transport: How can I get my workplace or school?

There are two options:

1. You can get a bus (we call them "combis") that will cost between s/.1.00 to s/.1.50 Peruvian Nuevos Soles each trip. (check the currency converter at the botton of the menu bar)

2. You can get a taxi that is a faster and not that expensive option most of all if you take the taxi with other people who lives in the house :). A taxi trip between 15 to 20 minutes, could cost between s/.10 to s/.12 Peruvian Nuevos Soles. There is not taximetrer so you will have to negociate :)

Other crazy option could be to get a car in Lima, but you will have to "enjoy" our traffic :) Check the video at right, there you will have a short view of our traffic, and the public transportation in rush-hour.

We are showing you the worst that you can find in Lima, no worries, not all the street are like that, and Miraflores and Surco are more calm, but is 90% sure that you will have to take the ave. Javier Prado, on the video :)

6. How long does it take to get to my workplace or school?

The average time you will take, living in Miraflores or Surco and taking 1 or 2 buses (combis), could be between 35 to 55 minutes. If you take a taxi you can save 20% to 30% of the time.

Check the map on the right side, we have put the main universities there.

If you have the address, we suggest you to use Google Maps. It is a great tool if you want to have a more precise information.

The following chart will show you the time by bus from Miraflores and Surco. Because Miraflores and Surco are pretty big areas, we are consider the time you need to gross the same district:

To: From Miraflores From Surco
Miraflores 5 to 15 minutes 5 to 40 minutes
Surco 5 to 40 minutes 5 to 15 minutes
La Molina 40 to 55 minutes  25 to 40 minutes
Santa Anita 50 to 60 minutes 30 to 45 minutes
San Miguel 35 to 55 minutes 45 to 55 minutes

7. How dangerous is  it to live in Lima, Miraflores and Surco?

Lima, as all capitals of the world has safe and risky areas and areas. South America has the reputation to be dangerous or riskier than Europe or North America, but that is not 100% sure.

Surco and Miraflores have the same security standards that you can find in a small city in Europe (considering that one of our team is living in Belgium), that's why Surco and Miraflores are the two of the most expensive places to live in Lima, the local governments expense a huge part of their budget in local security called serenazgo.

Miraflores and Surco are in the top 5 of the most secure places to live in Lima, and it means safer than in any capital of South America. You can walk anytime, even 2 or 3am, and you won't have any problem.

The picture on the right size will show you the last ranking of Citizen Security for Lima City made by the organization Ciudadanos Al Dia. check all the complete report here.
